I think first I should go over the term metalsmith. A metalsmith or simply smith is a craftsman fashioning tools or works of art out of various metals. I like to compare it to baking seeing as more people have been exposed to baking then metalsmithing. In baking you have flour, butter, yeast, sugar, and milk and one can make bread from scratch.
What I do in metal is very similar. I make jewelry from scratch. I take sterling silver, gold, cooper, brass, and I cut it out and I shape it with hammers. After all of that I then use a tiny blow torch with the objects that you see here. I do all of the work myself by hand in my shop. Here are some examples of my Graduate Work or Current Work.
